Description
Manjushree is a bodhisattva associated with prajna(wisdom) in Mahayana Buddhism. His name means "Gentle Glory" in Sanskrit. He carries the sword of wisdom and light in his right hand and prajnaparmita manusript " the book of Divine Wisdom" on his left on the lotus blossom. His left hand will be in teaching gesture(Jhan Mudra). He is also called Manjunghose, Manju Bajra , Vajranga and Vagiswara. People believe that the workship of Manjushree can Confer upon them wisdom, memory, intelligence etc.
A mantra commonly associated with Manjushree is the following :
" Om arapacana dhih"
The Arapacana is a syllabary consisting of forty two letters and is named after the first five letters a, ra, pa, ca, na.
