Tsokye Dorje, also called the 6th Karmapa, was a famous Tibetan Buddhist teacher and an important figure in the Karma Kagyu school. He was born in 1416 in Tibet and became the leader of the Karma Kagyu tradition when he was young. Tsokye Dorje was also known for performing miracles, which made his reputation as a great spiritual master even stronger.
Tsokye Dorje was a leader of Tibet from 1491 to 1499. He came from the Rinpungpa family and led the central government in Nêdong while the heir of the Phagmo Drupa dynasty was still a child.
