A bride is a woman who is about to be married or who is a newlywed. When marrying, if the bride's future spouse is a man, he is usually referred to as the bridegroom or just groom. In Nepal, Newari brides typically wear cultural dresses with beautiful traditional jwellery. Bridal jewellery holds cultural significance, such as Lu Swaha (hair accessaries) in Newari culture, chura (red bangles), Nyapu Sikha ( head pin) and Tayao(necklace) in newari culture. Newari marriages are a social union between two families in the Newar community of Nepal. The marriage is arranged by the parents of the bride and groom, and the ceremony is performed at a time chosen by an astrologer. Newari brides are very beautiful. The bride wears a traditional attire called doppatta saree (red heavy embroidery dress), with ethnic ornaments called Lu swha and Nyapu sikha(hair accessaries), Tayao (Necklace) , tradional earings, finger rings , red glass bangles, payeju etc. The groom wears a daura suruwal, a traditional Nepali cloth.
